Bio: Born into a lower middle-class family as the oldest of three children, Daire Caden joined the Shin-Ra army at the age of sixteen in an effort to help provide for his family. Although his intent, like all of the men, was to become a part of SOLDIER, he never quite made it. Nevertheless, Caden rose rapidly through the ranks with his highly ambitious streak and his adept handling of strategic combat. His particular expertise as a sniper did not go unnoticed, but in his narrow focus to reach the top, he subsequently abandoned his family, failing to write and only occasionally sending money. When the letters from home stopped coming, he hardly noticed. He garnered a certain sense of respect from most, but due to his unorthodox, rapid assent through the ranks, there was quite a feeling of dissent among several of his fellow soldiers.

At age twenty-four, Caden was assigned to go on a short, simple late-night transport mission. Travelling on friendly territory during a relatively peaceful time period meant there was no need for him to keep his eyes open. He slipped into the back for a nap, leaving road navigation to the exhausted driver who eventually fell asleep at the wheel. The resulting crash crushed Caden, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down.

Caden remained with the Shin-Ra army, strictly as a strategic analyst. Following Shin-Ra’s collapse, he disappeared into civilian life and has only recently returned to head Shin-Ra’s army and, to a certain extent, the Turks, although the Turks have never been too friendly with any superior not strictly a Turk himself.
